LESSON 6- On the phone
Asking for a telephone number and having a typical phone conversation between two Japanese people.

Tanaka-san: Odenwa bango wa nan desu ka?

Nishida-san: zero hachi ni san, ni yon, go ichi kyu san desu.

Tanaka-san: Ja, ato de denwa shimasu.

Nishida-san: Ha-i. Mattemasu yo!


Mr. Tanaka: What is your telephone number?

Ms. Nishida-san: It is 0823-24-5193

Mr. Tanaka: Ok, I'll call you later then.

Ms. Nishida: Alrighty. I'll be waiting!


(Sono yoru)

Nishida-san: Moshi moshi?

Tanaka-san: Moshi moshi, Nishida-san desu ka?

Nishida-san: Hai, so desu. Donata desu ka?

Tanaka-san: Tanaka desu.


(That evening)

Tanaka-san: Hello?

Nishida-san: Hello, Is this Ms. Nishida?

Tanaka-san: Yes, it is. Who is this?

Nishida-san: It's Mr. Tanaka.
